Wagcast Support

Wagcast is a weather app for iOS — forecast, radar, severe weather alerts, and a friendly dog companion of your choice from nine breeds.

Contact

The fastest way to reach me is email. Bug reports, feature requests, breed suggestions, weird behavior, App Store review questions — all welcome.

Email: ddavis@meazurelearning.com

If you’re reporting a bug, the most useful thing you can do is open Wagcast → Settings → tap “Send feedback.” That pre-fills the email subject with your version, build number, iOS version, and device model so I can triage faster than asking you twenty follow-up questions.

Frequently asked

Why doesn’t the radar show data outside the US?

Wagcast layers two radar sources: RainViewer (worldwide, past-2-hours and short-term forecast) and NOAA NEXRAD (high-resolution, US-only). Outside the contiguous 48 states, you’ll see the RainViewer layer only — it works globally but its resolution is lower. There is no fix; that’s the limit of available public radar data outside the US.

Why don’t I see any severe weather alerts?

Wagcast pulls active alerts from NOAA’s National Weather Service (api.weather.gov), which only covers the US. Outside the US the alerts page will say “All clear — no active alerts” regardless of conditions. Inside the US, “All clear” means there genuinely aren’t any active warnings, watches, or advisories for your county / NWS zone — it’s not a bug.

Why isn’t the Live Activity firing on my Lock Screen?

Three things have to be true:

  1. Settings → Alerts → “Severe weather alerts on Lock Screen” is on (default: on).
  2. There’s an active alert with Severe or Extreme severity for your location. Minor and Moderate alerts surface on the Alerts page but don’t spawn Live Activities by default — they’d be too noisy.
  3. The app has been opened recently. Wagcast doesn’t currently use background fetch or push-to-start, so Live Activities are spawned the next time you open the app and a qualifying alert is detected. (Background-refresh is on the roadmap.)

My dog won’t change when I pick a new breed

This was a bug in builds before 1.0 (40). If you’re on an older build, update from TestFlight / the App Store. If you’re on 1.0 (40) or later and still seeing it, please email me — I want to know.

Where does the weather data come from?

Why does Wagcast want my location?

To fetch local weather. The location request is “While Using the App” only — Wagcast can’t see your location when it isn’t open. Your lat/lon is sent to the weather providers as a query parameter and is not stored by Wagcast or (to my knowledge) by the providers in any user-identifying way. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Wagcast crashed / hung / showed something weird

Email me. Include:

The “Send feedback” button auto-fills version/iOS/device for you, which is the easiest way to get the right info into the email.

Can I get notified when a new build ships?

Wagcast is on TestFlight for early builds before App Store releases. Email me to be added.

Wagcast is built by Daniel Davis as a side project. It is not affiliated with Apple, Open-Meteo, NOAA, RainViewer, or any of the data providers listed above.
